OVIDUCT TRANSPORT
The role of oviduct transport in the maturation of the mammalian embryo is poorly understood. It is reasonable to assume that oviduct fluids have a central role in the nourishment of the embryo and in gas exchange; however, the fluids also may contain substances that control or somehow enhance the development of the cleavage-stage embryo. The mammalian embryo can survive and progress in various artificial media.
