Newer androgens such as MENT, a derivative of 19-NT, show promising properties in animal studies. In one study in monkeys, MENT showed a ten-fold greater potency (vs. T) in terms of LH inhibition, but only two-fold greater potency at stimulating prostate growth.48 This tissue selectivity could be advantageous in efforts to maximize the long-term safety of a hormonally derived male contraceptive.
