Lymphocytes and Plasma Cells

V.I.001 Lymphocyte

V.I.001

Lymphocyte. Marrow film. This image contains two erythroblasts (late basophilic stage) and seven small lymphocytes with their characteristic extremely high nuclear to cytoplasmic ratio and resulting thin rim of cytoplasm.

V.I.002 Lymphocyte

V.I.002

Lymphocyte. Marrow film. This image contains a cluster of eight small lymphocytes and one large lymphocyte. One bare nucleus is amidst the cluster representing a cell smashed during preparation. The small lymphocytes display their characteristic extremely high nuclear to cytoplasmic ratio and resulting thin rim of cytoplasm. A somewhat smudged band neutrophil is in the field.

V.I.003 Lymphocyte

V.I.003

Lymphocyte. Marrow film. Three smudge cells probably represent lymphocytes smashed in film preparation. This appearance is characteristic of lymphocytes so damaged. Three plasmacytoid lymphocytes with abundant cytoplasm and a deeper blue cytoplasmic staining are present. A normal band neutrophil is present and a swollen band neutrophil that has been damaged in film preparation is evident on the left side of the image.
