V.F.004
Mast cell. Marrow film. Occasional mast cells are present in normal marrow. They contain large dark blue to purple granules that may obscure the centrally placed nucleus. They can be easily located at lower power by scanning the marrow film or biopsy section. They may be increased in the marrow in systemic mastocytosis and in several clonal lymphoid disorders, notably Waldenström macroglobulinemia.

V.F.006 Mast Cell
V.F.006
Mast cell. Marrow film. Occasional mast cells are present in normal marrow. They contain large dark blue to purple granules that usually obscure the nucleus (arrow). They can be easily located at lower power by scanning the marrow film or biopsy section. They may be increased in the marrow in systemic mastocytosis and in several clonal lymphoid disorders, notably Waldenström macroglobulinemia and small cell lymphoma or chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
V.F.007 Mast Cell
V.F.007
Mast cell. Marrow film. Occasional mast cells are present in normal marrow. They contain large dark blue to purple granules. Here the centrally placed nucleus is evident. They can be easily located at lower power by scanning the marrow film or biopsy section. They may be increased in the marrow in systemic mastocytosis and in several clonal lymphoid disorders, notably Waldenström macroglobulinemia.
