METASTATIC CANCERS IN THE THYROID






Clinically evident metastases to the thyroid are rare occurrences. They generally present as typical solitary thyroid nodules and are most commonly due to renal cell carcinoma, breast cancer, lung cancer, and malignant melanoma. Usually, widespread
disease is evident, but occasionally, thyroid metastases may be the sentinels for metastatic disease.
