The source and center of all man’s creative power…is his power of making images, or the power of imagination.Imaging plays an important role along the entire trajectory of cancer management; hence, this issue of Surgical Oncology Clinics of North America is devoted to this topic. Leading authorities in this field have been recruited to contribute their expertise and provide a unique insight in the application of established and emerging radiological techniques. The comprehensive reviews by the authors are further enhanced by an abundance of radiographs to clarify the concepts. The issue addresses the topic in a system and disease site–based approach. I am grateful to Dr Nicholas Petrelli, Consulting Editor, for this opportunity and moreover for his unrelenting mentorship that remains unsurpassed. Dr Petrelli’s consummate leadership in the educational, clinical, research, and executive aspect of surgical oncology is incomparable.
I am deeply indebted to the efforts of all the contributors and their timely submissions. Special gratitude is extended to Jessica McCool and Stephanie Carter for their tireless efforts to drive this issue to the finish line. I am confident that the audience will appreciate the depth of the knowledge imparted by the contributors and ultimately benefit our patients, who deserve our best.
