Pitfalls
All patients should be discussed in a multidisciplinary team (MDT) meeting
Be sure that the imaging is contemporaneous as some adrenal metastases have a rapid doubling time (esp melanoma)
Distinguish between synchronous and metachronous disease
“Symptomatic” metastases are more likely to be associated with local invasion
Be prepared to undertake extensive laparoscopic adhesiolysis if the primary tumor was intraperitoneal
Resist becoming the “technician” for unfamiliar cancer MDTs to your practice – always discuss cases with the relevant oncologist
