Mechanism of Action
An alkylating agent that alters DNA replication, RNA transcription, and nucleic acid formation, resulting in cell death.
Indications
Carcinoma of the bladder, ovaries, and breast; brain tumors; Hodgkin’s disease; non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma; lymphosarcoma; malignant effusions.
Metabolism/Excretion
Metabolized in the liver; excreted in urine.
Dosage Range
Adult
♦ 0.3 to 0.4 mg/kg IV push at 1- to 4-week intervals.
♦ Cytoreduction for brain tumor bone marrow transplant: 300 mg/m2 per day for 3 days.
