Mechanism of Action

A nitrosourea alkylating agent that causes cell lysis by impairing DNA synthesis through intrastrand cross-linking of DNA.



Indications

Pancreatic carcinoma, colon carcinoma, carcinoid tumors.


Metabolism/Excretion

Metabolized in the liver; excreted in urine.


Dosage Range

♦ Adult: 500 mg/m2 per day IV for 5 days every 6 weeks or 1 g/m2 per week IV for 2 weeks; increase next doses if no toxicity or no response; maximum 1.5 g/m2 per week.
