Mechanism of Action

An antitumor antibiotic that binds to DNA and inhibits DNA-directed RNA synthesis. Acts on osteoclasts and blocks the action of parathyroid hormone.


Indications

Testicular carcinoma, hypercalcemia.


Metabolism/Excretion

Metabolized in the liver; excreted in urine.


Dosage Range


Adult

♦ Testicular carcinoma: 25 to 30 μg/kg per day for 8 to 10 days.
