Mechanism of Action

Functions as an immunosuppressant by blocking the function of all T cells.


Indications

Acute allograft rejection in renal transplant patients; steroid-resistant acute allograft rejection in cardiac and hepatic transplant patients.


Metabolism/Excretion

Mean time of appearance of IgG antibodies is 20 ± 2 days.



Dosage Range

♦ Adult: 5 mg/day in a single bolus as an IV injection for 10 to 14 days.

♦ Pediatric: Safety and efficacy not established.


Drug Preparation/Stability

Supplied in solution for injection: 5-mL ampule contains 5 mg of muromonab-CD3. Store in the refrigerator at 2° to 8°C (36° to 46°F). Do not shake or freeze. Once the ampule is opened, use immediately and discard unused portion.
