Mechanism of Action

Synthetic derivative of the naturally occurring steroid hormone progesterone with an unknown mechanism of anti-neoplastic activity.

Indications

Breast carcinoma, endometrial carcinoma, AIDS-associated cachexia, appetite stimulator.

Metabolism/Excretion

Metabolized in the liver; excreted in urine and feces.

Dosage Range

Adult

♦ Breast cancer: tablets, 160 mg/day in divided doses of 40 mg four times a day.

♦ Endometrial carcinoma: tablets, 40 to 320 mg/day in four divided doses.
