Mechanism of Action

Cell cycle-nonspecific alkylating agent that causes abnormal base pairing of guanine and thymine, DNA cross-linking, and impaired RNA and protein synthesis, causing cell lysis.


Indications

Lung carcinoma, chronic lymphocytic leukemia, chronic mye-locytic leukemia, Hodgkin’s disease, lymphosarcoma, malignant effusions, mycosis fungoides.


Metabolism/Excretion

Metabolized immediately on administration to active drug that is taken up by cells; excreted in urine.
