Casodex
Pregnancy Category X
Mechanism of Action
Bicalutamide is a nonsteroidal antiandrogen that inhibits the uptake and binding of androgens to the androgen receptors in the prostate gland and the cancer cells. In prostatic carci-noma, the cells are androgen sensitive and respond to treatment that counteracts the effect of androgen or removes the source of androgen.
Indications

Metabolism/Excretion
Extensively metabolized in the liver and excreted in the urine and feces. Half-life: 5.8 days.
